We're fully committed to ensuring our Oak is sourced from sustainably managed forests.

Our Environmental Statement...

Hewins' future depends on the long term availability of hardwood timber and allied products and therefore the company attaches great importance to environmental management, and has taken proactive steps to promote this.

In November 2006, the company committed itself to and was successful in achieving certification for both FSC® (Forest Stewardship Council®) and PEFC (Program for the Endorsement of Forest Certification schemes) chain of custody schemes, which are now maintained by annual audit by an independent auditor.

It is Hewins' policy to source timber from reputable suppliers who have similar values and, where possible, suppliers that also hold accreditations for the aforementioned schemes, enabling the purchase of certified goods.

While a high percentage of our stocks do now hold FSC® or PEFC certification, it is not possible to achieve this for all species or from all suppliers. However, to the best of our knowledge all the timber we purchase is sourced legally from managed sources or origin.

As a well known brand in the joinery trade and other timber related trades, Hewins Oak actively markets and promotes its support for such schemes to its customers and prospective customers.
